Climber Tree Stands

Climber tree stands offer a good combination of comfortability, portability, and safety. The stand wraps around the tree using any number of methods, from ratchet straps to cables and bolts.

The way a climber tree stand actually "climbs" the tree is that is uses a cantilever concept. It will usually have two sections. In days past, some people climbed trees by either wrapping a robe around the tree and pulling themselves tight against it while raising the treestand with their legs. They would then log the stand to the tree and re-adjust the rope to get a higher grip on the tree. This was a fairly dangerous method of climbing a tree and climber tree stands today are much safer.

Tree stands today allow you to sit in the top section whlie it is locked to the tree. You can then use your feet to lift of the bottom section. Once the bottom section is locked back into place, simply stand up and use your upper body to raise the top part of the stand and lock it onto a higher section of the tree. The "climbing" part of the tree stand is pretty self-explanatory.

Advantages of the climber tree stand is that it is portable. You don't need to leave it out in the woods in between hunts where it can be stolen, damaged, and exposed to the elements. After each hunt, the stand is small enough and light enough to be carried back home with you. Another advantage is that on average, climber tree stands are much cheaper than any other type of deer stand (other than simple hang-on tree stands). So not only do you pay less for a climber stand than you would a box blind or tripod, but you have the advantage of it being easily portable.

Its no wonder climber tree stands are so popular.
